Scripture verse of the day first Thessalonians 5:23
May the God of peace himself make you entirely clean; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept strong and blameless until the day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes back again.
Scripture reading of the day first Thessalonians 5: 8 — 24
But let us who live in the light keep sober, protected by the armor of faith and love, in wearing as our helmet a happy hope of salvation.
For God has not chosen to pour out his anger upon us, but to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ.
He died for us so that we can live with him for ever whether we are dead or alive at the time of his return. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
Dear brothers, honor the officers of your church who work hard among you and warn you against all that is wrong. Think highly of them and give them your wholehearted love, because they are straining to help you. And remember, no quarreling among yourselves.
Dear brothers, warned those who are lazy or wild; comfort those who are frightened; take tender care of those who are weak; and be patient with everyone. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to everyone else. Always be joyful.
Always keep on praying. Always be thankful no matter what happens, for that is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Do not smother the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at those who prophesy, but test everything that is said to be sure it is true, and if it is, then except that. Keep away from every kind of evil. May the God of peace himself make you entirely clean; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept strong and blameless until the day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes back again. God, who called you to become his child will do all this for you, just as he promised
Dear brothers, pray for us. Shake hands for me with all the brothers there. I command you in the name of the Lord to read this letter to all the Christians. In a rich blessings from our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, everyone.
Sincerely, Paul
Sam’s Response
There is so much more awaiting us. If you are willing to chase after God and of the things of God, you will bring you to a much higher place.
It is a choice we have to make, it is a choice on how we choose to live. We can choose to live under the umbrella of God or we can choose to live under the umbrella of this world.
There will be two very much different results, because of this choices we make. I tend to waiver back and forth between the world and God. When I step out of the realm of God’s goodness the world overtakes me and I choose sin before I choose God. I cannot always explain why this happens but there is a force here that is against us always looking to bring us down.
One thing is for sure today is a new day. God’s grace is renewed every day. We can choose to join God today no matter what happened yesterday. God knows everything going on within us, he weeps for our poor choices, but he does not leave us. He is willing to forgive if we are willing to turn away from sin. Jesus came to claim our sin and nailed to the cross. God allow Jesus to go to the cross for you and for me. Although in the moment the scene to be a devastating act, in retrospect we see God’s love in God’s hand upon each and every one of our lives.
Today we live in a time where the movement of this world is very much away from God. People are turning their hope and their futures over to sin, into the emptiness of what this world offers.
As Christians we have a great hope… we have a great future ahead of us… we have the return of Christ upon us that will wipe away all that is evil in this world.
Today we live in a time where the movement of this world is very much away from God. People are turning their hope in their futures over to sin, into the emptiness of what this world offers.
God has a plan for you and for me. The question is are we willing to seek that, and follow it. Just like the disciples that have a choice to make when Jesus called them, we too have a choice to make.
We can choose God and his Holiness or we can choose this world and its evil and emptiness that does not satisfy no matter how hard and how high and how fast you chase it it continues to come up empty every time.
So as Christians let us continue to mature and let us be the model of joy in this world that cannot be found in this world but only found in the redemptive love of Christ.
It is a choice… you just need to choose and trust and believe that God can and will pour down upon you all he has for you if you are willing to seek him wholeheartedly.
