Bible readings from the living Bible

Psalms 144

Bless the Lord who is my immovable rock.  He gives me strength and skill in battle.  He is always kind and loving to me; he is my fortress, my power of strength and safety, my deliverer.  He stands before me as a shield.  He subdues my people under me.

How Does Are Response Affect Our Walk With God?

By sam · Comments (0)
Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I am amazed at God’s grace in our lives. It never ceases to amaze me at how he works in us and through us.

Recently, I had a discussion with my Son about a test he was taking to get into the Army. There is alot of history with my Son that I do not have time to explain here, but God teaches us so that we may teach others what we have learned. It is an incredible opportunity to witness to those around us.

Now a quick background is needed here. If you have been reading the word of god for any length of time, you will see that I have addressed this issue a number of times, but because it is so important and it is on my heart again this morning, I am going to share it with you.

I am comforted by this truth

Word of God From the Living Bible

2 Timothy 8-13

Don’t ever forget the wonderful fact that Jesus Christ was a man born into King David’s family: and that he was God, as shown by the fact that he rose again from the dead. It is because I have preached these great truths that I am in trouble here and have been put in jail like a criminal. But the Word of God is not chained, even though I am. I am more than willing to suffer if that will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God had chosen.

I am comforted by this truth, that when we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven.

And if we think that our present service for him is hard, just remember that some day we are going to sit with him and rule with him. But if we give up when we suffer, and turn against Christ, then he must turn against us. Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are part of himself, and he will always carry out his promises to us.

_____________________________________________________

I can not think of anyone greater in the suffering of living for God than Job. Here is a man that had it all by the world’s standard. The difference was he was a faithful man of God. He did not understand the deal made between Satan and God. He was not part of that conversation. Satan’s fury was released on Job for one reason…To prove to God that anyone can be taken from the hand of God. God proved this differently as Job took his stand for the Word. In the face of losing EVERYTHING…Job’s faith remained.

At a Casting Crowns Concert, the Lead singer Mark Hall, challenged us all to think about how we would respond if everything we have around us was taken..I mean EVERYTHING…and all we were left with is our faith and JESUS. Would that be enough?

This is a very difficult question for those of us who live in all the comforts of America. We have SOOO much that each day we are comforted by. Our homes, our cars, our money, our sports, our entertainment, our families, our food and soooo much more.

people-praising-godI was amazed when watching the unfolding of the great earthquake that took Port Au Prince to the ground and the people were “Left with nothing”…No food, no water, no shelter (the 3 basics that we always seem to have here in the US), that these faithful people paraded around the streets praising and singing to God. This happened within a few days of this tragedy. How could these people be singing and praising God. They had lost their homes, their families and everything that they had, which for most of these people was so far below poverty compared to “poverty” here in the United States.

There is only one Answer…They have something most of us don’t…Comfort by this truth…They belong to the LORD and walk in faith not by sight. All the sights pointed towards devastation, destruction and and end to the impoverished life they were already living.

AMAZING..

Paul comes as a close 2nd in my eyes to Job. In 2nd Timothy in the above scripture we see Paul writing and encouraging Timothy who was a young man that was chasing after the heart of God.

The big difference between those who have given their hearts to Christ and those whom have not is our understanding of where this is all going. As the world spins on, and seemingly darkness increases all around us, we know the message that Christ has brought to us. For “he cannot disown us who are part of himself” and “I am comforted by this truth that when we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven”

This is the comfort we can always rest in that the World cannot. When tragedy and difficulties consume us, we have somewhere to turn to be comforted.

Scripture reading from the living Bible

Scripture verse of the day

John 6:68 Simon Peter replied, “master, to whom shall we go? You alone have the words that give eternal life.

Scripture readings of the day John 6:63 — 69; 14: 1 — 28

Only the Holy Spirit gives eternal life. Those born only once with physical birth will never receive this gift. But now I have told you how to get this true spiritual life. But some of you don’t believe me.” But Jesus knew from the beginning who didn’t believe and knew the one who would betray him.

And he remarked, that is what I meant when I said that no one can come to me unless the father attracts them to me.

At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him.

Then Jesus turned to the 12 and asked, “are you going to?”

Simon Peter replied, “master, to whom shall we go? You alone have the words that give eternal life. And we believe them and know you are the holy son of God.”

John 14: one — 28

“Let not your heart be troubled. You are trusting God, now trusted me. There are many homes up there where my father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with me where I am. If this weren’t so, I would tell you plainly. And you know where I’m going and how to get there.”

“No, we don’t,” Thomas said. “We haven’t any idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus told him, “I am the way — yes, and the truth and the life. No one can get to the father except by means of me. If you had known who I am, then you would have known who my father is. From now on you know him — and have seen him!”

Phillip said, “Sir, show us the father and we will be satisfied.”

Jesus replied, “don’t you even yet know who I am, Philip, even after all this time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the father. So why are you asking to see him? Don’t you believe that I am in the father and the father is in me? The words I say are not my own but are from the father who lives in me. And he does his work through me. Just believe it — that I am in the father and the father is in me. Or else believe it because of the mighty miracles never seen me do.

In solemn truth I tell you, anyone believing in me shall do the same miracles I have done, and even greater ones, because I am going to be with the father. You can ask him for anything, using my name, and I will do it, for this will bring praise to the father because of what I, the son, will do for you. Yes, ask anything, using my name and I will do it!

If you love me, obey me; and I will ask the father and he will give you another comforter, and he will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, the spirit who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive them, for it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, for he lives with you now and someday shall be in you. No, I will not abandon you and leave you as orphans — I will come to you. In just a little while I’ll be gone from the world, but I will still be present with you. For I will live again — and you will too. When I come back to life again, you will know that I am in the father, and you in me and I in you.
In This Scripture reading we see Jesus explaining who he is and what he is offering us. Peter asked the question where will we go? “You have the words of eternal life.” When we truly believe the word of God and set our heart upon the things that God has for us, this wonderful thought and knowledge of who we are and where we are going after our brief time on earth is what is going to get us through anything we face.

One of the key points of the Scripture is to understand that your salvation can never be taken away. No man will be able to pry away what God is freely given to you and I. This should give you are I the confidence and boldness to walk in the truth and the light of the mighty lamb of God.

By knowing Jesus we also know the father. Jesus was very clear in the above Scripture about the fact that the father speaking through Jesus. Jesus was in the father and the father was in Jesus.

So as it says in John 14:1 let not your heart be troubled you are trusting God, now trusted me. This is the key to our faith. Trusting God and believing in the word of God without wavering is faith. Once you have faith, you will be able to stand against anything you face. When trouble comes you have Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit on your side. I will take that team any day over any other team you could set up for me.

Why The Internet Is The Vehicle For The End Times and Return Of Christ

By sam · Comments (0)
Saturday, April 18th, 2009

This is of course my speculation as the only one who knows when the end will come is God. Not even Jesus was privy to that informaiton.

But I seriously think the internet is the vehicle to bring about the fulfillment of scripture.

In the bible it says that the end will not come until everyone has had the opportunity to hear about Jesus and The Good News.

The internet gives the opportunity for anyone in the world to find out about the Good News and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

With all the communication tools available, and continuing to grow, information is available to us 24/7.

Even in Hatti, The poorest country in the western hemisphere,  has cell-phones and Internet.

This leads me to believe that we are VERY close to the fulfillment of Scripture.

Again, Only God knows when that day will be when Jesus will return riding on a cloud for all to see. I can say that I am very excited for that day, but also there is still work to be done. I have family and friends that are mis-guided and denying God and Jesus.

One last note, I want to share with you the list of countries that have visited this site in the first 19 days of April. This will give you an idea of the reach the internet is having and how the message of Christ is being spread around the Globe.
