God Always Comes Through When You Rest In Christ

By sam · Comments (0)

God always comes through when you rest in Christ.

Yesterday I had a call from my daughter and she went on to explain that she is feeling overwhelmed with work and also homesick. This is the first time she has been on her own and she is in the midst of a very demanding biblical training program.

Her life is so full almost daily that yesterday she just got to that point where we all get in life of just wanting everything to stop and slow down.

So she talked to myself and my wife for a while and by the end she felt better. She still had a busy evening ahead of her as she had to bo back to church to witness a baptism.

Late in the evening, I got a text from her. She sounded so excited.

God’s Glory was on display for her to see, and she soaked it up.

God produced a beautiful double rainbow that went from one horizon to the other. On one end it was so bright and majestic that it just blew my daughter away.

The Glory of God in a RainbowAll the stress of earlier in the day was gone and she was basking in the magnificence of our glorious God as he was what I like to call, showing off :)

It is amazing how God always comes through when we are weary and tired and it seems like we can not go on, God has a way of lifting us up and keeping us going. And sometimes it is something really simple that reminds us of the Glory of God and how wonderful he is. The refreshment of a rainbow was exactly what my daughter needed, and God showed up to lift her spirits.

How Do You Start Your Day? What is First?

By sam · Comments (0)
Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

What is first in your life?

When you wake up, where do your thoughts go? Are you
rushing to get to work? Are you hustling and bustling
to get the kids off to school?

How easy it is for us to start our day off without the
most important aspect being addressed.

GOD

There is a relationship that far exceeds any relationship. The spiritual relationship with our creator. This is an ongoing relationship that God desires to have with you. He wants to guide you and help you thorughout the day.

It is in Genesis 8, vs 20, 21 where the waters of receeded and It is time for NOah and his family who were saved in the mightly flood that covered the whole earth, to come out of the ark and begin life again.

I am sure that many thoughts and actions could of superseded the thoughts of God, as there was a new life to begin. Where to build a house, where to farm, and many other aspects.

But what Noah did FIRST, is build an alter and worship GOD. Noah had his priorities right. DO You?

Daily life can be tough, but I have personally found it to be much tougher if I bypass my time with God.

SO What is first in your life?

I am comforted by this truth

Word of God From the Living Bible

2 Timothy 8-13

Don’t ever forget the wonderful fact that Jesus Christ was a man born into King David’s family: and that he was God, as shown by the fact that he rose again from the dead. It is because I have preached these great truths that I am in trouble here and have been put in jail like a criminal. But the Word of God is not chained, even though I am. I am more than willing to suffer if that will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God had chosen.

I am comforted by this truth, that when we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven.

And if we think that our present service for him is hard, just remember that some day we are going to sit with him and rule with him. But if we give up when we suffer, and turn against Christ, then he must turn against us. Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are part of himself, and he will always carry out his promises to us.

_____________________________________________________

I can not think of anyone greater in the suffering of living for God than Job. Here is a man that had it all by the world’s standard. The difference was he was a faithful man of God. He did not understand the deal made between Satan and God. He was not part of that conversation. Satan’s fury was released on Job for one reason…To prove to God that anyone can be taken from the hand of God. God proved this differently as Job took his stand for the Word. In the face of losing EVERYTHING…Job’s faith remained.

At a Casting Crowns Concert, the Lead singer Mark Hall, challenged us all to think about how we would respond if everything we have around us was taken..I mean EVERYTHING…and all we were left with is our faith and JESUS. Would that be enough?

This is a very difficult question for those of us who live in all the comforts of America. We have SOOO much that each day we are comforted by. Our homes, our cars, our money, our sports, our entertainment, our families, our food and soooo much more.

people-praising-godI was amazed when watching the unfolding of the great earthquake that took Port Au Prince to the ground and the people were “Left with nothing”…No food, no water, no shelter (the 3 basics that we always seem to have here in the US), that these faithful people paraded around the streets praising and singing to God. This happened within a few days of this tragedy. How could these people be singing and praising God. They had lost their homes, their families and everything that they had, which for most of these people was so far below poverty compared to “poverty” here in the United States.

There is only one Answer…They have something most of us don’t…Comfort by this truth…They belong to the LORD and walk in faith not by sight. All the sights pointed towards devastation, destruction and and end to the impoverished life they were already living.

AMAZING..

Paul comes as a close 2nd in my eyes to Job. In 2nd Timothy in the above scripture we see Paul writing and encouraging Timothy who was a young man that was chasing after the heart of God.

The big difference between those who have given their hearts to Christ and those whom have not is our understanding of where this is all going. As the world spins on, and seemingly darkness increases all around us, we know the message that Christ has brought to us. For “he cannot disown us who are part of himself” and “I am comforted by this truth that when we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven”

This is the comfort we can always rest in that the World cannot. When tragedy and difficulties consume us, we have somewhere to turn to be comforted.

Scripture Verse of the Day 1Peter 2:4

Come to Christ, who is the living Foundation of Rock upon which God builds; though men have spurned him, he is very precious to God who has chosen him above all others.

Scripture reading of the day

1 Peter 2:1-16

So Get rid of your feelings of hatred. Don’t just pretend to be good! Be done with dishonesty and jealousy and talking about others behind their backs. If you have tasted the Lord’s goodness and kindness, cry for more, as a baby cries for mild–and grow strong in the Lord. Come to Christ who is the living Foundation of Rock upon which God has Builds; though men have spurned him, he is very precious to God who has chosen him above all others.

What is Your Plan For 2009? Are You Including God?

By sam · Comments (0)
Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Welcome to the first post of 2009 at the Word of God online!

2009 is here and I am committed to working a plan throughout the year. For the past 2 weeks I have been thinking alot about this and reflecting upon my direction.

Is this direction God’s Plan or My own plan?

Well, I want to do God’s Bidding and server him not this world. So the biggest part of my plan is right here at the Word of God Online site where I am committing before God and YOU to start everyday by posting here and reading the word.

Do you have Your Plan For The New Year?

Scripture of the Day.
Isaiah 55:9
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.

Scripture Reading for Jan 1 2009

Genesis 28: 10-28

So Jacob left Beer-sheba and journeyed toward Haran. That night, when he stopped to camp at sundown, he found a rock for a headrest and lay down to sleep, and dreamed that a staircase reached from earth to heaven, and he saw the angels of God going up and down upon it.

At the top of the stairs stook the Lord. “I am Jehovah”, he said, “the God of Abraham, and of your father Isac. The ground you are lying on is yours! I will give it to you and to your descendants. For you will have descendants as many as dust! Then will cover the land from east to west and from north to sough; and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. What’s more, I am with you, and will protect you wherever you go, and will bring you back safely to this land; I will be with you constantly until I have finished giving you all I am promising.”

Then Jacob woke up. “God lives here!” he exclaimed in terror. “I’ve stumbled into his home! This is the awesome entrance to heaven!” The next morning he got up very early and set his stone headrest upright as a memorial pillar, and poured olive oil over it. He named the place Bethan (“House of God”), though the previous name of the nearest village was Luz.

And Jacob vowed this vow to God; “If God will help nad protect me on this journey and give me food and clothes, and will bring me back safely to my father, then I will choose Jehovah as my God! And this memorial pillar shall become a place for worship; and I will give you back a tenth of everything you give me!”

Here on New Years day we are all excited about 2009 and many of us make plans. So of us make new commitments to make this year a better year.

We may set goals and strive to achieve them based on our human thinking. We may attain them even and look back and say…”Look at all I have done this year!”

It may be a good plan…but…

There is another plan that is even better that many of us miss.

God’s plan…

God’s plan for our lives and what he wants to do with and through us.

What is your plan?

I am reading a very good book called the Power of Vision and late last night into the new year I was reading this book and I really began to understand that which we all seek and the answer to the question…”Why am I here and how do I find it, this vision and purpose for my life?”

In the book it explains it this way.

If you keep getting thoughts coming back to you about things you should be doing or passion for a certain area about your life, there is a very strong possibility that God is speaking to you. To your heart about what PLAN and PURPOSE he wants you to fulfill.

There is YOUR PLAN and then there is GOD’S Plan…

Which plan are you going to follow this year?

Will you be ready to act when God calls you to that plan?

I pray that God Reveals to you his purpose and plan for your life in 2009!

Feel free to comment on this and lets get a discussion going.
