Bible Study of Hebrews

By sam · Comments (0)
Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Over the course of the upcoming weeks and months, I will be doing a specific walk through bible study of the book of Hebrews.

Hebrews and what is faithHebrews .. Let us Draw Near To God

The Overall theme behind Hebrews comes out of Hebrews 10: 19-23

And so, dear brothers, now we may walk right into the very holy of holies where God is, because of the blood of Jesus. This is the fresh, new, life-giving way which Christ has opened up for us by tearing the curtain – his human body – to let us into the holy presence of God. And since this great high priest of ours rules over God’s household, let us go right in, to God himself, with true hearts fully trusting him to receive us, because we have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood and make us clean, because our bodies have been washed with pure water. Now we can look forward to the salvation God has promised us there is no longer any room for doubt, and we can tell others that salvation is ours. For there is no question that he will do what he says.

Prophecy Being Fulfilled By the Speed of Our Lives and the Increase in Knowledge

You can trace Prophecy in the Bible and see how prophetic it truly is. It is quite amazing when you actually spend the time deciphering and putting together this plan that God has and see how it is being unfolded just as it is told in the bible.

End times Rushing InThere are very definitive predictions of when the end times will occur and what will be going on when the time is here.

As I have stated on this website many times, I believe we are in those times. I am not saying the world will end today or telling you to pack your house full of supplies, because quite frankly none of that is going to make a difference when the time comes.

Just take a look at the situation in the Gulf with the oil crisis. How do you prepare for that? If your livelihood is fishing, what can you do? Nothing!

Isaiah 30 from the Living Bible

Rebellion Against GodWoe to my rebellious children, says the Lord; you ask advice from everyone but me, and decide to do what I don’t want you to do. You yoke yourselves with unbelievers, thus piling up your sins. For without consulting me you have gone down to Egypt to find aid and have put your trust in Pharaoh for his protection.. But in trusting pharaoh, you will be disappointed, humiliated and disgraced, for he can’t deliver on his promises to save you. For through his power extends to Zoan and Hanes, yet it will all turn out to your shame—he won’t help one little bit!

See them moving slowly across the terrible desert to Egypt—donkeys and camels laden down with treasure to pay for Egypt’s aid. On through the wild country they go, where lions and swift venomous snakes live—and Egypt will give you nothing in return!

For Egypt’s promises are worthless! “The reluctant Dragon,” I call her!

Readings from the living Bible

One of the toughest questions Christians face

Genesis 18 verse 25

That wouldn’t be right!  Surely you wouldn’t do such a thing, to kill the godly with the wicked.  Why, you would be treating godly in wicked people the same!  Surely you wouldn’t do that.  Should not the Judge of all the earth be fair?

I am comforted by this truth

Word of God From the Living Bible

2 Timothy 8-13

Don’t ever forget the wonderful fact that Jesus Christ was a man born into King David’s family: and that he was God, as shown by the fact that he rose again from the dead. It is because I have preached these great truths that I am in trouble here and have been put in jail like a criminal. But the Word of God is not chained, even though I am. I am more than willing to suffer if that will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God had chosen.

I am comforted by this truth, that when we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven.

And if we think that our present service for him is hard, just remember that some day we are going to sit with him and rule with him. But if we give up when we suffer, and turn against Christ, then he must turn against us. Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are part of himself, and he will always carry out his promises to us.

_____________________________________________________

I can not think of anyone greater in the suffering of living for God than Job. Here is a man that had it all by the world’s standard. The difference was he was a faithful man of God. He did not understand the deal made between Satan and God. He was not part of that conversation. Satan’s fury was released on Job for one reason…To prove to God that anyone can be taken from the hand of God. God proved this differently as Job took his stand for the Word. In the face of losing EVERYTHING…Job’s faith remained.

At a Casting Crowns Concert, the Lead singer Mark Hall, challenged us all to think about how we would respond if everything we have around us was taken..I mean EVERYTHING…and all we were left with is our faith and JESUS. Would that be enough?

This is a very difficult question for those of us who live in all the comforts of America. We have SOOO much that each day we are comforted by. Our homes, our cars, our money, our sports, our entertainment, our families, our food and soooo much more.

people-praising-godI was amazed when watching the unfolding of the great earthquake that took Port Au Prince to the ground and the people were “Left with nothing”…No food, no water, no shelter (the 3 basics that we always seem to have here in the US), that these faithful people paraded around the streets praising and singing to God. This happened within a few days of this tragedy. How could these people be singing and praising God. They had lost their homes, their families and everything that they had, which for most of these people was so far below poverty compared to “poverty” here in the United States.

There is only one Answer…They have something most of us don’t…Comfort by this truth…They belong to the LORD and walk in faith not by sight. All the sights pointed towards devastation, destruction and and end to the impoverished life they were already living.

AMAZING..

Paul comes as a close 2nd in my eyes to Job. In 2nd Timothy in the above scripture we see Paul writing and encouraging Timothy who was a young man that was chasing after the heart of God.

The big difference between those who have given their hearts to Christ and those whom have not is our understanding of where this is all going. As the world spins on, and seemingly darkness increases all around us, we know the message that Christ has brought to us. For “he cannot disown us who are part of himself” and “I am comforted by this truth that when we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven”

This is the comfort we can always rest in that the World cannot. When tragedy and difficulties consume us, we have somewhere to turn to be comforted.

Scripture verse of the day Matthew 28:19
therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture readings are from the living Bible

“brothers and fathers, listen to me as they offer my defense.” (When they heard him speaking in Hebrew, the silence was even greater.)

“I am a Jew,” he said, “born in Tarus, a city in Cilicia, but educated here in Jerusalem under Gamaliel, at whose feet I learned to follow our Jewish laws and customs very carefully. I became very anxious to honor God in everything I did, just as you have tried to do today. And I persecuted the Christians, hounding them to death, binding and delivering both men and women to prison. The high priest or any member of the Council can testify that this is so. For I ask them for letters to the Jewish leaders in Damascus, with instructions to let me bring any Christian I found to Jerusalem in chains to be punished.

“As I was on the road, nearing Damascus, suddenly about noon a very bright light from heaven shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”

“Who is it speaking to me, sir?” I asked. And he replied, “I am Jesus of Nazareth, the one you are persecuting.” The men with me saw the light but didn’t understand what was said.

“And I said, what shall I do Lord? And the Lord told me, get up and go into Damascus and there you will be told what awaits you in the years ahead. I was blinded by the intense light, and had to be led into Damascus by my companions.

“There a man named Ananias, as godly a man as you could find for obeying the law, and well thought of by all the Jews of Damascus, came to me, and standing beside me said, “Brother Saul, receive your sight!” In that very hour I could see him.

“Then he told me, “the God of our fathers has chosen you to know his will and to see the Messiah and hear him speak. You are to take his message everywhere telling what you have seen and heard. And now, why delay? Go and be baptized, and be cleansed from your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”

Sam’s response

have you had a Damascus i experience in your life?

Are you sharing the good news with others?

One of the main reasons God calls us is in some form or fashion he wants us to pass on through us the good news to other people.

To do this we have to commit our lives to God’s will and not are will. To be effective in the light of God’s eyes we must hunger for more of the word and less of the world.

Do you put God first in your life?

Walking the road of a Christian is a blessed have to be on, but it is also one that requires a certain development of perseverance and a continual seeking of what God has for you. It may not always be clear what God is doing or where you are headed, but it is important to for the word of God into your life every day and put God first before the rest of what ever is going on in your life.

This is the great challenge that we face on an ongoing basis. It does not matter what happened yesterday in the sense that you can recommit your time and efforts to the word of God starting today.

We must not give up…
