No Problem With God, But What Happens When You Say JESUS

By sam · Comments (0)
Sunday, November 7th, 2010

The Word Jesus brings separation, anger and weird looks from others.

It is interesting to note that barely NO one has a problem with God. All the times of God Bless America, and the reflection of God in our lives seems to be easy for most people to say and talk about. But what happens, if you are a follower of Jesus, and you bring up Jesus Christ in the conversation?

Well, most of the time if you are around non-believers, you will definitely see a change in their demeanor at the moment you bring Jesus into the conversation. It makes people uncomfortable. Why is this?

Most likely, much of the secular world will see you as bigoted, narrow minded, and see you (the follower of Jesus) as a radical person.

If we are to stand on our faith as believers in Jesus Christ, then we can not run from this challenge and we must walk in faith as we encounter these opportunities to share the Gospel and the love of Christ with others.

This morning in church our Pastor was on FIRE and talking about in Acts Chapter 7 and how Stephen was on trial and about to be put to death through a horrible death of being stoned to death. I can not imagine being taken outside the courthouse and being stoned 1 rock at a time until I was dead. This is, in today’s society tough to imagine happening.

In Acts chapter 7 Stephen, had a remarkable moment where he SAW the Court of God as he was in the Court of Man. He knew he was going to be killed for his belief in Jesus, and was not afraid, for he knew God was with him. He saw God and Jesus as the right hand of  God looking over Stephen. In Stephen’s last breath he calls out to God and asks him to forgive his accusers and people who are stoning him, for they did not “SEE” the Court of God and Jesus.

The Phrasiees and Saduces had issues with Jesus, not God. The Jews have issues with Jesus, not God. Jesus is the one, the way, the truth and the life. This was the way it was 2000 years ago, and this is the way it is today. It is not going to change, this division is going to get worse, not better as we move closer to the day when this explodes and we move closer to the day of the Return of Christ.

Do not back down, stand your ground as a believer and have total assurance and faith in the one we follow.

It is well with our soul no matter what we face.

Sean Penn Fighting For Haiti and Cholera…but?

ST MARC, HAITI - OCTOBER 25: Patients with Ch...

Sean Penn has been any pretty much since the earthquake happened just 10 months ago. I have a lot of respect for what he is doing there and the impact he is having. It’s really cool to see someone who has the money and fame, realizing that he has the capacity to do something about a horrendous situation. I only wish more people were joining him and people with huge sums of money that splurge on themselves were doing more.

With the fast-paced of news today and all the different disasters that are happening around the world, it is easy to forget about Haiti. This country has been ravaged by an earthquake that is completely devastated the country that was already in so much poverty that most of us could never imagine living in conditions even before the earthquake.

Now, Haiti is facing possibilities of a major outbreak of Cholera. As I was watching the news last night, one of the major issues is drinking water. Now the news reporter, was walking around showing how people may be drinking water that may be unsafe. But what choice did they have? It that’s all there is, what do you expect them to drink?

Now the reporter, came to this one house, and wanted to test the water to see if it was safe. He had a test kit with him to be able to quickly determine if the water was safe or not. He was able to determine that the water is not safe unless you add chlorine to it. So he pulled out his handy dandy chlorine packet and put it in the water. Then he tried to explain to the people that they should not drink the water. The explain to them that they should add chlorine to their water before they drink it.

Now this is great and the millions of people are all walking around these chlorine packets. But most of them have never even been educated as to the importance of drinking water and its safety. This is what they’ve known their whole life.

Don’t forget Haiti… Please please please

these people need our help and they need it desperately.

Here is an interview with Sean Penn last night.

You can be sure of this… Ephesian’s 5

Welcome to the word of God online

picking up where we left off yesterday we will continue in Ephesians 5 from the living Bible

You can be sure of this: the kingdom of Christ and of God will never belong to anyone who is into your or greedy, or a greedy person is really an idol worshiper – he loves and worships the good things of this life more than God. Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible wrath of God is upon all those who do them.

Don’t even associate with such people. Rebel once your heart was full of darkness, now it is full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! Because of this light within you, you should do only what is good and right and true.

As we continue to follow God’s example in everything in our lives, today we deal with the issue of impurity or greed. We are constantly surrounded by both and bombarded by both by the world. If we are to lead people to Christ, then first we need to walk in the ways and examples that God has for us. How can we expect our impact to hold merit if we allow the world and its impurities and greed rule in our own life?

How is a Christian to Act and Be an Example?

Jesus

Image via Wikipedia

The Bible is very clear on all we are to walk out our faith. There are many places in the Bible where you can find examples of how to behave and walk out your faith.

For the next few days were going to look at Ephesians 5 from the living Bible.

Ephesians 5
follow God‘s example in everything you do just as a much loved child imitates his father. The full of love for others, following the example of Christ who loved you and gave himself to God as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, for Christ love for you was like sweet perfume to him.

Let there be no sexual sin, impurity or greed among you. Let no one be able to accuse you of any such things. Dirty stories, foul talk and course jokes – these are not for you. Instead, remind each other of God’s goodness and be thankful.

——————————————————————–

As we began to look at this Bible study on Ephesians 5, I want you to really open your mind and think about things that are discussed here. It is no small matter on how we act. People are watching you to see it this Christian thing has any merit. The way we are going to impact people as Christian’s I we walk out our daily lives. It is very important that we first understand who we are in Christ and who we are moving towards becoming.

To Win people over in your daily life, it is not the big speech or WOW moments that God produces at times, but more of your behavior on a day by day basis that is going to show the love of Christ to others.

There is very specific directions above on how you can begin to change your behavior. Please work on these and make sure you stay away from them. Some of these may be very challenging as they are common place in water cooler talk and part of daily chatter we hear whether it is from friends or from the TV or internet.

We must learn to recognize this and do not engage in it. REFUSE to participate and protect your mind.

  1. Let there be NO sexual Sin
  2. Let there be No Impurity
  3. Let there be no GREED
  4. Do not engage in Dirty stories
  5. Do not swear and use foul language
  6. Do not engage in course joke

As we look at this list, You would probably agree,That most of the above Is around you are daily basis. Learn to recognize these things around you and if you have engaged in these things above, STOP today. We all have just the day in front of us to work on. 1 day at a time, learn to see these things for what they are. Pollution to you…the world’s pollution attempting to pull you away from what is good and pure. To pull you away from Christ.

The Daily Living Challenge As A Christian

Welcome to the word of God online and the Living Bible Online

The Daily Living Challenge As A Christian

First Thessalonians 4 from the living bible

Let me add this, dear brothers: you already know how to please God in your daily living, for you know the commands we gave you from the Lord Jesus himself. Now we beg you – yes, we demand of you in the name of the Lord Jesus – that you live more and more closely to that ideal. For God wants you to be holy and pure, and to keep clear of all sexual sin so that each of you will marry and holiness and honor – not in lustful passion as the heathen do, in their ignorance of God and his ways.…

Verse nine

But concerning the pure brotherly love that there should be among God’s people, I do not need to say very much, I’m sure! For God himself is teaching you to love one another. Indeed, your love is already strong towards all the Christian Brothers throughout your whole nation. Even so, dear friends, we beg you to love them more and more. This should be your invention: to live a quiet life, minding your own business and doing your own work, just as we told you before.

As a result people who are not Christians will trust and respect you, and you will not need to depend on others for enough money to pay your bills.

———————————————————————————————————

As a Christian we are called to live in a different manner than the rest of the world. Today, there is no question, this presents a very challenging aspect to the Christian life. If we are to become more Christlike, and set an example to others, and we are to become more holy and pure, then there are things that you and I will need to do that will be very much different than those who are not walking and moving closer to Christ.

The Burning of The Koran What’s The Point?

By sam · Comments (0)
Thursday, September 9th, 2010

I awake this morning to once again find Mr Jones in the news about his burning of the Koran on Sept. 11th.

Why Mr Jones…Why?

Somehow this became global news and Mr Jones is getting quite the coverage which I think is a HUGE mistake by the media. But the media loves to cover juicy stories like this and blow them up.  Obviously, there is not enough to cover in the news.

Now this has spread globally and we see massive backlash happening all around the world. It is disturbing that is for sure.

Personally, As I am a Christian, I am embarrassed and outraged by Mr Terry Jones and what he is doing. This kind of senseless act is not going to do anything except further divide and cause death. What’s the Point Mr Terry Jones?

We are called to bring the Good News to the world Mr Jones! What Good News are you reading? What Good News are you bringing to people? UGH!

Mr Jones, it is not religions that we face that are evil. It is not people Mr Jones that we are to fight against. Have you read the Bible Mr Jones? It is called Spiritual warfare and we are fighting not against people, but those of the spirit world backed by the one and only Satan.

Where is Love Mr Jones? Have you read 1st Corinthians 13? If we have not love, we have nothing. We are just clanging symbols…unfortunately you are getting lots of press coverage in the natural media that is now spreading Globally.

Are you God’s Judge and Jury Mr Jones? What right do you have to judge others? God will take care of that Mr Terry Jones!

Dude, Re-read Ephesians 6 Verse 12. Just in case you have a different bible, here is what is says in the Living bible. Ephesians 6:12  “For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies–the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world.”

Our battles need to be fought on a different battlefield…your making a big mistake Mr Terry Jones by burning the Koran and bringing the battle to the natural world. Big Mistake.

Burning The Koran on September 11th is Causing Harm and Division

By sam · Comments (0)
Thursday, September 9th, 2010
So this dude from Florida wants to get his claim to fame which he is getting.

Jesus caused controversy and stirred up people, there can be no doubt about that. Although he was speaking on the fathers behalf. He spoke of sin, he spoke of Love, he spoke on how to walk a good life.

I did not see Jesus burning books…I did not see Jesus trying to get on the nightly news. I do not believe Jesus would handle division of Christians and other religions with this display that Mr Jones is doing…

When Jesus faced the Roman’s he spoke truth to them, most of the time it made them stop in their tracks and think.

Think of the story of the woman who was brought before Jesus because she committed adultery. Basically he said those who have not sinned, throw the first stone…well they realized they all have sinned and walked away.

The only thing that Mr Jones and his band of a mere 50 bandits are doing is stirring more hatred and division.
clipped from abcnews.go.com

Jones’ plan to set ablaze thousands of copies of the Muslim holy book on Sept. 11, a day he’s dubbed International Burn a Koran Day, has become a flashpoint. What has been seen for weeks as a strange front in the culture wars, this weekend became a front in America’s real war, with Gen. David Patraeus weighing in to say he believed the display would be detrimental and dangerous to U.S. troops fighting in Afghanistan.
