John Chapter 2 from the living Bible

Two days later Jesus his mother was a guest at a wedding in the village of Cana in Galilee, and Jesus and his disciples were invited to. The wind supply ran out during the festivities in Jesus’s mother came to him with a problem
“I can’t help you now,” he said. It isn’t yet my time for miracles.
But his mother told the servants do whatever he tells you to.
Six stone water pots were standing there; they were used for Jewish ceremonial purposes and hell between 20 and 30 gallons each.
Then Jesus told the servants to fill them to the brim with water. When this was done he said, “draw some out and take it to the master of the ceremonies.”
When the master of the ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over.
“This is wonderful stuff!” He said, “you’re different than most! Usually a host uses the best wine first, and afterwards, when everyone is full and doesn’t care, and he brings out the cheaper sort. But you have The best for the last.”
This miracle at Cana in Galilee was Jesus’s first public demonstration of his heaven sent power. And his disciples believed that he really was the Messiah.
After the wedding he left for Capernaum for a few days with his mother, brothers, and disciples.
Then it was time for the annual Jewish Passover celebration, and Jesus went to Jerusalem and in the Temple he saw merchants selling cattle, sheep and doves for sacrifices, and moneychangers behind their counters. Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chase them all out, and drove out the sheep and oxen, scattering the moneychangers coins over the for and turning over their tables. Then, going over to the man selling doves, he told them, “get these things out of here! Don’t turn my father’s house into a market!”
Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures: “concern for God’s house will be my undoing.”
“What right have you to order them out?” The Jewish leaders demanded. “If you have this authority from God, show us a miracle to prove it.”
“All right,” Jesus replied, “this is the miracle I will do for you: destroyed the sanctuary and three days I will raise it up.”
“What!” They exclaimed. “It took 46 years to build this temple and you can do it in three days?” But by “this sanctuary” he meant his body. After he came back to life again, the disciples remembered that he had said this and realize that what he had quoted from the Scriptures really did prefer to him and had all come true.
Because of the miracles he did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many people were convinced that he was indeed the Messiah.
But Jesus didn’t trust them, for he knew mankind to the core. No one needed to tell him how changeable human nature is.

Sam’s response

here we see in John Chapter 2 Jesus first miracle. I believe out of love for his mother, even though he was not here to turn water into wine, like us all we want to please her parents. So although it was not his time he did perform the miracle of turning water into wine.

Additionally and John Chapter 2, we see Jesus entering the Temple and finding all these people selling things inside the church. Now most of us picture Jesus and think of the compassion and the messages he has, not one who would make a whip and chase people with it.

There’s no question that when Jesus was here walking with us that he was here to do his father’s work. He was controversial at times and many people hated him and questioned him constantly. I love the line at the end of the Scripture that says no one needed to tell him how changeable human nature is.

Jesus is God and a part of God. He knows the core of our human nature and understood the things we would face. He did not come to condemn us but to save us.

Even the disciples throughout the Gospels when they were walking with Jesus at times did not believe even though they were walking with Jesus. Often it took signs and miracles for them to buy into what Jesus was telling them and to believe in him that he was the Messiah. They had physical representation of who Jesus was displayed to them on a constant basis.

For August, living now, we have the Bible and the stories of what Jesus did when he was here to guide us and help us better understand our Christian faith.

Many times people ask how can I increase my faith? I believe the answer to that is to have a life that is fully connected to God on a daily basis. If you want to increase your faith seek ye first the kingdom of God and put God as the first priority in your  daily lives. We have in our hands the holy Bible that is the ultimate guide to our lives. It will keep us on the right path and will help us to grow our faith by understanding who God is and how he loves us.
