And Now, a word to you elders of the church. I, too, am an elder; with my own eyes I saw Christ dying on the cross; and I , too. will share his glory and his honor when he returns.

Fellow elders, this is my plea to you: Feed the flock of God; care for it willingly, not grudgingly; not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve the Lord. Don’t be tyrants, but lead them by your good example, and when the Head  shepherd comes, your reward will be a never-ending share in his glory and honor.

You younger men, follow the leadership of those who are older. And all of you server each other with humble spirits, for God gives special blessings to those who are humble, but sets himself against those who are proud. If you will humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, in his good time he will lift you up.

Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.

Be careful–watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart. Stand firm when he attacks. Trust the Lord. And remember that other Christians all around the world are going through these sufferings too.

After you have suffered a little while, our God, who is full of kindness through Christ, will give you his eternal glory. He personally will come and pick you up, and set you firmly in place, and make you stronger than ever. To him be all power over all things, for ever and ever.  Amen

I am sending this note to you through the courtesy of Silvanus who is, in my opinion, a very faithful brother. I hope I have encourages you by this letter for I have given you a true statement of the way God blesses. What I have told you there should help you to stand firmly in his love. My wife here in Rome–she is your sister in the Lord–sends you their greetings; so does my son Mark. Give each other the handshake of Christian love. Peace be to all of you who are in Christ.

Sam’s Response…Based on the Works of Smith Wigglesworth and his Daily Devotion.

What does God want to do in us?

Four things

1. Perfect
2. Establish
3. Strengthen
4. Settle

Lets break each of these down according to the word of god..

1 God wants to perfect…In the Book of Hebrews chapter 13:20-21 From the Living Bible we read…And now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, equip you with all you need for doing his will through the blood of the everlasting garment between God and you. And may he produce in you through the power of Christ all that is pleasing to him, to who be glory for ever and ever.

It is not that we are “perfect”, but in our walk, we are moving and pressing in towards Christ. By yielding ourselves to the will of God and the purpose he has for us, our minds will be transformed and we will come to understand the perfection of
God’s will.

Our sin is covered by the blood of Christ, his perfection covers my imperfections. As Paul has said, we are to press on in the battle and persevere to the end of this time as we move into the eternal life with our Savior. Complete perfection will only come
when we walk through the gates of heaven. But, living in Christ here, we are holy and perfect in HIM.

2. Establish…When accepting Christ and becoming a Christian, you must establish the fact that you may need to put aside “who you think you are and what you think” and take on the thoughts of Christ. We walk by faith now, not by sight. You no longer are
OF this world. Your faith Superseeds whatever is happening here on earth. Our thoughts are to look to what is to come based on our faith and the word of God

3. Strengthen..Our walk with the Lord will continue to strengthen us. We must realize that God is doing the business, not you. We become part of Gods Plan for salvation and also realize that God doesn’t need us to complete his plan, but he desires for us to take part.

4. Settle…When you accepted Christ, you settled your future. Your future beyond our time on earth, has been settled. You belong to Christ, you are a child of God. There is a union that took place, and a bond that can not be broken or taken away. There should be a peace in your heart knowing that the most important peice of all has been settled. Moving forward is enduring the race and finishing the race by moving closer to Christ and perfection, day by day.

In 1Peter 5:11 it says in the Living bible..”To Him be all Power over all things for ever and ever” How does this tie into us? By Living for HIS GLORY, not ours…We must not withdraw from God, or turn back or look back…what is done is done, but moving forward we can believe and mature until the day comes when God Takes us.
