Scripture verse of the day second Corinthians 6:1
in partners, we beg you not to let slip this marvelous message of God’s great kindness.
Scripture reading of the day Psalm 51
Oh loving and kind God, have mercy. Have Pity upon me and take away the awful stain of my transgressions. Oh, wash me, cleanse me from this guilt. Let me be pure again. For I admit my shameful deed — it haunts me day and night. It is against you and you alone, I sinned, and did this terrible thing. You saw it all and your sentence against me is just. But I was born a sinner, yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
You deserve honesty from the heart; yes, utter sincerity and truthfulness. Oh, give me this wisdom.
Sprinkle me with the cleansing blood, and I shall be clean again. Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow. And after you have punished me, give me back my joy again.
Don’t keep looking at my sins — erase them from your site. Oh God, filled with clean thoughts and right desires. Don’t toss me aside, banished forever from your presence. Don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore me again the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Then I will teach your ways to other sinners, and they — guilty like me — will repent and return to you. Don’t sentenced me to death. Oh my God, you alone can rescue me. Then I will sing of your forgiveness, for my lips will be unsealed — oh, how I will praise you.
You don’t want penance; if you did, how gladly I would do it! You aren’t interested in offerings, burned before you on the altar. It is a broken spirit you want — remorse and pentaince. A broken and a contrite heart,, you will not ignore.
And Lord, don’t punish Israel for my sins — help your people and protect Jerusalem.
And when my heart is right, then you will rejoice in the good that I do and in the bullocks I bring to sacrifice upon the altar.
Sam’s response
Understanding and receiving the grace of God.
Are you receiving the grace of God in vain. We must let our hearts be examined when the Lord comes with blessing or with correction. Sometimes we need to step out and think of the graces of God and the blessings that he has given us. Everyone in the church has the same level of faith available to them, but how many of us really let that faith be the foremost in everything that we do. How often does that grace bring peace to our lives on a daily basis.
I don’t think most of us see our God as the God of grace and mercy. Nor do we see him opening up the doors of mercy on a regular basis. I think most of us take for granted the love that God has for us. It’s easy to go from one day to the next day without giving God glory or seeing the goodness that he pours out and has ready for you and I every day.
I think due to the busyness of our lives we miss a lot of what God has for us daily. I think it’s easy to forget the blessings that we should be thankful for and be praising God for.
As the Scripture of the day says… we beg you not to let slip this marvelous message of God’s great kindness.
Closing Prayer
God, I pray for you to open my eyes to your goodness and your grace and your mercy and your peace. Please God don’t let me go through the day without seeing your love and your kindness and your mercy. Help me to step back and to breathe and to pause long enough to hear your voice and to feel your love. And Lord, anyone who is reading this message, I ask you to touch their hearts… I ask you to lift them up to a higher place… I ask you to give them strength in the storm… ask you for grace and mercy in their life… amen
