The internet for all it wonder and amazement that it has brought us, unfortunately carries a very dark side to it as well. God has very strong language that he displays in the wise words of Solemn through the book of proverbs.

sex sells and steals our hearts and mindsIt doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that sex sells. This is the devils oldest, but yet strongest trick in his book. I believe this is an issue much more for men because of the way we are wired. Not that women do not have issues around this, but it is very much different for men do to our physiological makeup. God made man and woman to complement each other, but made each different. I do think anyone could rightfully argue that point. WE are wired differently for God’s Great purposes.

So this post today is particularly for men

We men have all sinned in the eyes of God. The lure of the devil and the lure of our flesh towards sex and lust is around all of us all the time. Today this has just accelerated to the nth degree with the ease of availability through the internet. I mean, one click and you can be knee deep in pornography. It has become so easy to go and “take a peek” and be lured by this evil influence in our lives. And if we don’t go looking for it, it is shoved in our face all around us through T.V. as well. Let’s get something straight!  SEX SELL and Lust draws  us into an area that leads to only destruction and ruined lives.

Wisdom is our guide if you follow the Lord. Wisdom comes from God. The Good Book is filled with wisdom and knowledge.

In Proverbs 4 there is excellent instruction on how to deal with this issue. First, starting in verse 4 (from the living bible)…

“He told me never to forget his words, “If you follow them,” he said, “you will have a long and happy life. Learn to be wise,” he said, “and develop good judgment and common sense! I cannot overemphasize this point.” Cling to wisdom–she will protect you. Love her–she will guard you.

So the question is do you want a long and happy life? I think most of us, Christians and Non-Christians alike would answer yes to that question.

Continuing on to proverbs 4 verse 23…

Above all else guard your affections. For they influence everything else in your life. Spurn the careless kiss of a prostitute. Stay far from her. Look straight ahead; don’t even turn your head to look. Watch your step. Stick to the path and be safe. Don’t sidetrack; pull back your foot from danger.

Proverbs 5…

Listen to me, my son! I know what I am saying; listen! Watch yourself, in the case you should be indiscreet and betray some vital information. For the lips of the prostitute are as sweet as honey, and smooth flattery in her stock in trade. But after wards, only a bitter conscience is left to you, sharp as a double-edged sword. She leads you down to death and hell. For she does not know the path to life. She staggers down a crooked trail, and doesn’t even realize where it leads.

This trap that Satan has set is very powerful and not to be underestimated. SEX SELLS and it also destroys the very fabric of our society. It draws us away from God. It has so many downsides, but even though it does, it remains for men, one of the most difficult and destructive lures out there. Don’t think Satan does not know the power of this. Why, when you look around you, you see soooo much of this constantly luring and pulling you away from what is good and true.

It is very clear in the words above…ABOVE ALL ELSE GUARD YOUR AFFECTIONS…

Many great men in the bible faced this trial and some failed. David was lured by the sweet honey of Bathsheba and committed adultery. Now David was the very king that was chasing after the heart of God and God showed much favor to David. Yet the temptation consumed David until he caved, so to speak, and slept with Bathsheba. David was an amazing man of God. So this story of the fall of David is a reminder to all men. None of us are immune and we are best to heed the words in proverbs 4 and 5.

In proverbs 5 starting in verse 7 it says “Young men, listen to me, and never forget what I am about to say: RUN From here! Don’t go near her house, in case you fall to her temptation and lose your honor, and give the remainder of your life to the cruel and merciless;

Proverbs 5 verse 15… Drink from your own well, my son–be faithful and true to your wife

Amen to that and may we all learn the wisdom of God and stand on his word in the face of SEX and pornography
