Jan 1st 2008 is here and we are all ringing in the new year with expectations, resolutions and plans for great things in the New Year. Most of us we hold fast to our new found resolutions for a few weeks before they fade into the sunset. It is not intentional, it is just that it takes longer to break old habits and instill new ones to make them part of your everyday plan.
So what is your plan for 2008?
Is it God's Plan for your life or is it YOUR plan for your life?
Isaiah 55 vs 8 and 9 say…This plan of mine is not what you would work out, neither are my thoughts the same as Yours! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.
God has a plan for your life, the question is will you meet God in that place to allow him to help you get on that path where he can use and guide you in his ways.
In Genesis 28 versus 10-22 we read that Jacob is heading to Haran to find a wife which Issac has sent him to based on their heritage. On the way Jacob stops to sleep as darkness settles in and during his sleep he has a vision and visit from God. Jacob dreams of a ladder that extends all the way up to heaven with angels going up and down…
The Lord speaks to Jacob and tells him he will give the ground which Jacob is lying on to him and his decenndants. Also he say sin Verse 15 "What's more, I am with you, and will protect you wherever you go, and will bring you back safely to this land; I will be with you constantly until I have finished giving you all I am promising."
In the midst of life, God breaks into Jacobs life and informs Jacob that he has a plan for his life that is certainly beyond what Jacob was planning or thinking. God had a better plan.
I don't believe that God intends his people to live ordinary lives that settle for less or are NOT filled with great expectations. And as I started the sentence above we see the words that often will hold us back…I don't believe…Now I was using this in a different context but it points out that if we "ONLY BELIEVE"….Our blessings and plans will be increased and more God directed.
Jacob struggled for 21 years up to that moment, there were times where God seemed to be far away and un-involved with Jacob's life…but in that moment God Broke through and revealed a better plan, a higher plan that for us in our puny thinking would not have imagined.
So what is your plan this year? Is God included in your plans?
It is my plan to write here daily and spend the first hour of everyday with God. That is where I will start my journey for 2008. It was a revelation this morning when I was reading to see that I think the first reference of the tithe was made in Genesis 28 at the end where Jacob promises God he will give him a tenth of everything that God gives him….
Give God a tenth of your time and your fruits that he blesses you with….
May 2008 for you be filled with God's Plan for you life, this I pray for myself and for you as you read this…Lord bless the eyes that read this and come and fill them with your spirit and Lord please reveal your plan for our lives…In Jesus name we pray!
