Welcome to the word of God online

picking up where we left off yesterday we will continue in Ephesians 5 from the living Bible

You can be sure of this: the kingdom of Christ and of God will never belong to anyone who is into your or greedy, or a greedy person is really an idol worshiper – he loves and worships the good things of this life more than God. Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible wrath of God is upon all those who do them.

Don’t even associate with such people. Rebel once your heart was full of darkness, now it is full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! Because of this light within you, you should do only what is good and right and true.

As we continue to follow God’s example in everything in our lives, today we deal with the issue of impurity or greed. We are constantly surrounded by both and bombarded by both by the world. If we are to lead people to Christ, then first we need to walk in the ways and examples that God has for us. How can we expect our impact to hold merit if we allow the world and its impurities and greed rule in our own life?

As I was away on a marriage encounter this weekend with my wife, one of the questions I had to deal with is… Why do I want to go on living?

As I thought about this, or my own personal reasons in my own life, we can all easily say… Well I want to see my children get married, have kids, and other things that are good.

Ultimately though, there was really only one reason to go on living, knowing the implications of what our life is to be while we are here. As a Christian we all know, there is a better place we are all going to celebrate our eternal life with God in Christ. Knowing that, for me, the main reason to go on living is to share the love of Christ with others, with the hope that the reflection of God in me will shine bright enough to them, to see that there is maybe a better way than what this world has to offer.

It was really a profound question that was asked. After you remove all the possessions, cars, houses, and other aspects of our lives, what else is there? We are not taking anything that we build here with our jobs and hands with us. What we will take with us is our soul and spirit. The implications of what we do here as a Christian will most likely be measured by our effectiveness for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

You can be sure of this… The great commission that we are called to as Christians is our greatest calling, and one that must be set before us daily. Our effectiveness will only be as good as our ability to separate ourselves from worldly living to godly living.
