First Thessalonians 4 from the living bible
Let me add this, dear brothers: you already know how to please God in your daily living, for you know the commands we gave you from the Lord Jesus himself. Now we beg you – yes, we demand of you in the name of the Lord Jesus – that you live more and more closely to that ideal. For God wants you to be holy and pure, and to keep clear of all sexual sin so that each of you will marry and holiness and honor – not in lustful passion as the heathen do, in their ignorance of God and his ways.…

But concerning the pure brotherly love that there should be among God’s people, I do not need to say very much, I’m sure! For God himself is teaching you to love one another. Indeed, your love is already strong towards all the Christian Brothers throughout your whole nation. Even so, dear friends, we beg you to love them more and more. This should be your invention: to live a quiet life, minding your own business and doing your own work, just as we told you before.
As a result people who are not Christians will trust and respect you, and you will not need to depend on others for enough money to pay your bills.

As a Christian we are called to live in a different manner than the rest of the world. Today, there is no question, this presents a very challenging aspect to the Christian life. If we are to become more Christlike, and set an example to others, and we are to become more holy and pure, then there are things that you and I will need to do that will be very much different than those who are not walking and moving closer to Christ.
The Daily Living Challenge As A Christian
In today’s secular world, all of us are constantly bombarded with messages that are full of sin. From sexual immorality, to a relentless use of the Lord’s name in vain, to the constant use of coarse language, and to the constant trail of the need for more stuff and money, there is a major challenge that we face to combat these messages that are flashed in front of our eyes every day.
It is my belief, that if you do not deal with this issue, then the world’s pull will drag you away from a life that is righteous and good. It will be difficult to move closer to Christ and become more pure and holy if you allow the world’s influence to infiltrate your mind and life.
So how do we combat this?
First and foremost, we seek God on a daily basis and asking for help. We pick up our Bible and read it on a daily basis. We learn to recognize what is sin and how it is influencing us on a daily basis. We asked for God’s protection from the relentless pursuit of sins pull on our life. And instead, we relentlessly pursue God as he pursues us.
Another way to combat this daily challenge is to look for areas in our day in which we can fill our day with the goodness of God. You may be asking, what do I mean by that? There are many opportunities if you look closely in your day where you may be driving in the car, doing the dishes, taking a walk, exercising, doing some mindless activity, or other opportunities in your day that could be filled with God’s protection plan. What is God’s protection plan? His holy word. I recommend you get the Bible in audio format that you can listen to as you do many of these activities mentioned above. One of the ways to protect ourselves against the world’s invasion is to soak ourselves in God’s holy word until it becomes saturated in our souls.
Another way to combat this daily challenge of the relentless pursuit of sin in our life, is to put on worship music whenever we have a chance. Today, there are many different genres of Christian music available. Now your style and taste may be different than mine as a Christian. And that’s not the point, the point is to look for opportunities where you can turn on Christian music and filled the air around you with the goodness of God.
This issue in the daily challenge of walking a Christian life is one that must be taken on head on. I know in my own walk this is been a constant battle in my life since I have become a Christian. The world’s influence can quickly pull me away from the goodness of God in the holiness and purity that he wants me to walk in. I know the above two things work, and work well when they are implemented. So pick up your Bible, by an audio version of the Bible in a format that you enjoy, and set your radio stations to the Christian stations. If you are around the computer often, you can also check out Pandora, which allows you to pick pretty much any artist that you like and listen to them on your computer.
