How Does Are Response Affect Our Walk With God?

By sam · Comments (0)
Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I am amazed at God’s grace in our lives. It never ceases to amaze me at how he works in us and through us.

Recently, I had a discussion with my Son about a test he was taking to get into the Army. There is alot of history with my Son that I do not have time to explain here, but God teaches us so that we may teach others what we have learned. It is an incredible opportunity to witness to those around us.

Now a quick background is needed here. If you have been reading the word of god for any length of time, you will see that I have addressed this issue a number of times, but because it is so important and it is on my heart again this morning, I am going to share it with you.

Spiritual Poverty Leading To Unfulliled Lives

By sam · Comments (0)
Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Welcome to the Word of God Online,

Bible Readings come from the living bible and other sources are used from Time to Time

Spiritual Poverty Is Leading Cause for Contentment Today

Are Your living in spiritual poverty? There is a good chance you are if you are anxious about anything, or are on a continual course for having more to be content.

What has happened to contentment today? It has been replaced by needing newer cars, bigger houses, the latest technology, bigger plates of food, better beer, fancy vacations, more money and many more things that are giving us just a taste of happiness while in the mean time we are denying the creator who created us.

I am reading Billy Graham’s book on the Secret of Happiness and it starts out with the scripture…Mathew 5:3  The meek and lowly are fortunate For the while wide world belongs to them.

He goes on to mention a French Philosopher who once said, “The whole world is on a mad quest for security and happiness.”

So why are so many people not happy? Even people with great wealth have talked about this in the position from they have “everything” money can buy but they are down right miserable.

Why is this?

What are they missing?

C.S Lewis said, “Joy is the serious business of heaven.”

My wife and I are on a week-end get-a-way in the beautiful white mountains and it is a week-end we look forward to every spring. Spring is a time of renewel and the new growth from a long winter season replaces the emptiness of the winter and dark days, with colors of green and new growth.

We spent last night watching a live simulcast of James McDonald and it was fantastic. He addressed the issue that we as Christians and non-Christians all face.

TRIALS….

Not the kind of trials in which we run out of milk in the morning and there is no way to eat our corn pops.

I am talking about the kind of trials that bring a heavy burden upon our shoulders. When a child of our dies, or we lose our job, or we are financially bankrupt…

Serious issues we ALL face. None of us are going to avoid trials in our lives.

What happens when these trials hit is the time for Christians to show the glory of the Lord through how we handle them. Now I have a confession to make to anyone here who reads this. I have struggled in this area mightily. When the walls of my life have come crashing in, I have not handled them with grace. Nor have a thanked God and embraced this as a time of opportunity to shine for God as a child of God.

Typically this is a time I have walked away from God or fallen into a depression…POOR ME…

I am not an anyway minimizing the fact that the trial hurts and brings me to tears or to my knees, that is not what I am saying here.

The difference between Christians and Non-Christians is we have a source of power to tap into that gives us the ability if we choose to embrace the trial and see that this is a chance to show the Glory of God to others in a time of difficulty.

Unfortunately this is not as easy as it sounds. It takes a strong Christian who is NOT spiritually impoverished to be able to withstand the furies of life.

There was no greater example of this then the Father of a young boy in Haiti who is also a minster and runs an orphanage there. If you have not watched this, please do so now

Addressing Spiritual poverty…There is a longing in our hearts that ONLY GOD can fill. This is how we are created. If you continue to chase after what man or women says is what we should chase after, you will just continue to live an unfulfilled life.

To balance this equation, come to the Lord. Contact me and I will talk to you about how to commit to a life that is fulfilling and that gives you true Joy and lasting happiness.

My Cry and Heart is Broken for Haiti Tonight

By sam · Comments (0)
Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Unless you are living under a rock, I am sure you heard about the awful Earthquake in Haiti that took place Jan 12, 2010 at 4:57 pm est.

From the Ambassador of Haiti..

Haiti was ‘catastrophe waiting to happen’

Haitianboy

Haiti’s infrastructure was among the world’s worst even in the best of times, the country’s ambassador to the United States said Tuesday.

“It was a catastrophe waiting to happen,” Raymond Alcide Joseph told CNN from Washington shortly after a 7.0 earthquake leveled parts of his home country, cutting power and phone lines in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. “Sadly, it has happened.”

He called the result “a catastrophe of major proportions.” The capital city is surrounded by hills to which “little flimsy houses” were struggling to hold on, he said.

Frank Williams of World Vision Haiti told CNN from the Petionville section of the capital that the building in which his organization is based shook for about 35 seconds and did not weather it well.

(From http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/01/12/haiti.earthquake.infrastructure/  )

Tonight my heart is heavy with the great earthquake in Haiti. The capital
of this extremely poor nation, one of the poorest in the world is now
in ruins and rubble.

This happened just before dark and now as darkness fell, the cries of people
caught in the rubble ushered out into the dusty clould that hung over the
city from the crumbled concrete.

When the sun comes up, the darkest hour in Haiti’s hurrendous history will
be unvield and we that partake in noticing will shudder at the loss of life.

Who will take notice? Who will grieve with the Haitians? Who will help?
Who will Care?

I am sad ..so sad as I close my eyes tonight I do not look forward to
the day tomorrow as the light shines on Port au prince in Haiti. I have
never been to haiti, but my wife has…tonight when the showed the worst
of the worst slums in the world, a place so decrepit and filled with
violence and gangs that even police won’t go in, my heart cried out
as many many people will be dead by morning. They may already be dead
for all I know. But we are unable to see or know as there is no
electricity, no cell service in all of port au prince.

My wife was mentioning that at the time of the earthquake was typically
a time where all the children would be out bringing back water from
the wells…Wells that took them a long time to build that most likely
will all be gone by morning. The earth swallowed up port au prince..

And who will really care come a week or 2 removed from this awful
tragedy…

Who will be there for the Haitians to help them back on their feet?

We shall see…

I think this is a cross roads time in our history and my gut tells
me that most will ignore or turn their backs. For God’s sake and for
all of humanity, I hope this is not the case and we see a world come
together as one to help these desperate people who have so little
except the unity of their people who have been in peril for most
of their existence.

Happy New Year From The Word of God Online

By sam · Comments (0)

[mc id="960" type="audio"]HappyNewYear2010[/mc]

Welcome to the word of God online

January 1, 2010

Well here we are at the beginning of a new year. I’ve always liked the beginning of new years as we have the opportunity to begin again. Kind of like a new beginning of sorts.

Over the last couple weeks have been reflecting on the previous year and looking at different areas in my life. It’s been a great year for the word of God online as many milestones were made. Additionally I suffered 2  attacks on this website that caused me to have to rebuild the site a couple of times. Luckily the data that I had on the site was secure, and it wasn’t too difficult to fix. Although, the last attack was much more severe and the site was down for several days as I tried to figure out how to fix it.

But today is January 1, 2010 and it’s a new year. I’m looking forward to another great year here on the word of God online and to deepen my relationship with Christ. This is certainly a year of some transitions happening in my life as for the first time in 18 years I’ll have a empty nest. As a matter of fact I’m going to be leaving in about an hour and a half to take my daughter to the airport as she heads off to Boise Idaho to participate in the Vineyard school of missions.

So this is going to leave some additional time for me to do some other things. One of the things I wanted to do for a long time is to work locally volunteering my time in the local soup kitchen or something of the sorts. I’ve looked into this several times and have come away with a feeling of less than excitement let’s say, as I was rather discouraged by the fact that I was unable to allow my love of Christ to be shared in practical ways. But, recently a new organization to our town has opened up in a building here locally. It’s called the root cellar and the foundation of this organization is 100% Christian-based. A lot of people don’t know this but the city I live in which is Lewiston and Auburn, has a area and it that covers about a square mile it is the poorest square-mile north of Boston.

So I’m looking forward at volunteering some time at the root cellar this year.

Additionally, on the word of God online you be able to look forward to spending time in the book of Romans. As I’ve recently picked up a book that is just on the book of Romans which happens to be my favorite book. So we will have an in-depth Bible study within the book of Romans. Additionally my wife got me a new daily devotional by Henry Blackaby. Henry is also the author of experiencing God which is another book that I’m going to spend time in. I went through about half of the experiencing God workbook and absolutely loved it but as it happens a lot I fell away towards the end half of this book.

For the past couple years my daily devotion has been my Smith Wigglesworth book, and it has been fantastic for me because it is really helped me understand the power of healing through Christ. I can’t think of another more powerful man of God who was able to create so much healing of others throughout his life as Smith Wigglesworth. Smith Wigglesworth is dead but I am sure he can hear me and I’m thinking them publicly now for really helping me better understand the power of healing and the acceptance of that because that was an area for me in my Christian walk that I found to be very difficult to accept.

But as it is a new year I’m announcing here on the word of God online tonight, that I will be going in some different directions this year although I will still be using the living Bible as the basis for Bible scripture. I will be expanding in using other Bibles as well for the year 2010.

So there’s lots to look forward to hearing the year 2010 at the word of God online. Something else I’m looking forward to doing and hopefully by the middle of the year I’ll begin to start putting this in play is a daily online Bible study that will be inside a life webinar Room. This is been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but the time commitment to do it would require that I have an income that frees up more of my time to be able to hold daily online Bible studies with you.

I’m also going to be adding a donation button so if you feel this ministry is helping you I would appreciate if you can help support it by making a small but regular donation. The more view that donate on a regular basis, the quicker how be able to move towards my objective of starting a daily online Bible study.

One of the things I’m going to do and I hope you will too is listen to worship music much more. There’s lots of free time in our days that we could be filling our ears with a beautiful sounds of worship music. Someone I challenge you to do which you can to fill your ears with more of God’s word to the wonderful music that’s out there.

I am excited about the upcoming year and I hope you are too and I hope you’ll feel free to respond on here and share in the conversations and that we could develop here.

Happy new year and I’ll talk soon to you.

Behold Your God

By freedom4real · Comments (0)
Friday, December 25th, 2009

Another Christmas has come and almost gone (It’s getting close to midnight as I write this.) Before it slips away, I feel compelled to share something that has dominated my thoughts all week.

Last Sunday I participated in the annual Messiah sing-along held locally here at Bates College. This is an opportunity for anyone who wants to, to be able to sing as a choir for the chorus sections and listen as an audience for the solo and instrumental sections of the Christmas portion of  Handel’s Messiah Oratorio. This was my second time experiencing this event, and it once again had a strong impact on me.

the opening words to the entire Oratorio are from Isaiah Chapter 40: “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people!” The selected scriptures go on to reveal what this comforting message is all about – that a Savior will be revealed to all the world to reconcile people to God. And that Savior is Jesus Christ the Lord.

This year, one section really stood out to me. The verse is from Isaiah 40:9 “O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain! O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength! Lift it up, be not afraid! Say unto the cities of Judah, ‘Behold your God!’”

In a time when our culture recognizes Peace and Good Will as the center of Christmas, but keeps Jesus tucked safely away in his manger nestled in the heart of a sweet folklore story, I want to look upon that manger scene, and always remember these words: “Behold, your God!!” That’s who Jesus was and is, much more than a sweet little baby, much more than a wise and good teacher, much more than a motivating leader… He was and is “Emanuel” which means “God with us”.

So I am compelled on this Christmas day, to “get myself up into the high mountain”, to a place where I can broadcast the good news. I am compelled to say with Isaiah “Comfort ye, my people! Behold your God!”

Merry Christmas, and God bless you all! (Carol clark, Sam’s wife)

A Baby is Born That Changed Everything

By sam · Comments (0)
Thursday, December 24th, 2009

At our Christmas Eve Service tonight, a woman sang a song that really touched all of us. How would we know that 1 Baby would change everything for ever and ever.

Millions of people around the world today, 2000 years later are celebrating the Birth of Christ.

Our calendars are based on the chronological calender of Before Christ and After…

Lives of millions and millions have been changed and saved due to this one baby. A baby born in a manger so long ago that is still as close to our hearts as it was to the shepards who witnessed it so long ago.

The Great I Am came to save you and me.

My wife and I went out eat after the service and we saw a family celebrating the togetherness of the season. Is it not the people getting together that means so much at christmas? If there is peace in your family then these gatherings are awesome. For years I sought and longed for these gatherings, but they have not happened much as I have 2 Jehovah Witnesses in my family including my Mother. Then 2 other members are thousands of miles away and getting together at Christmas is just not important for them.

Anyways, this family that we saw was just having a great time and we noticed that a baby was with them an apparently asleep even though the noice of this family rose with laughter and love.

When they got ready to leave, the baby woke and I immediately thought about the message at church and the baby that changed everything. I struck up a conversation with the mother of the baby, and she invited us over to see this 2 week old baby. And we all agreed that a baby changes everything in our own lives, but baby Jesus changed the lives of millions and millions of people.

Thanksgiving Vs. Black Friday…Who Wins?

By sam · Comments (0)
Friday, November 27th, 2009

Well it is just about the end of Thanksgiving and the beginning of Black Friday. Is there any greater contrast of days that fall back to back like these on our calender? I don’t think so.

Today was one of the best days this year. Today was Thanksgiving. Today I realized that this has become my favorite holiday. It took me 44 years to pick a winner, and I am picking Thanksgiving as the best holiday of the year.

Why?

Each Year for the past…umm..15 years I have gone down to my Dad’s and Step-moms beautiful old farmhouse in Shapliegh Maine. The house brims with stlye and character from the moment  you pull into the driveway. When you walk in you see one of the most beautiful cast iron stoves on the planet as the dominating feature of the kitchen/dinning area.

The smells of the cooking food is just amazing….

The love that was flowing in the house as we gathered was amazing. Love filled the room, laughter, conversation, hugs, and smiles all gave way to Thanks and blessings. We are blessed to have the family we do. We have gathered year after year and for some reason this year was so peaceful and wonderful. 11 of us gathered around the table and enjoyed each other and a boutiful supply of food.

We talked and shared stories as we ate and smiles and laughter and joy dominated the air that we breathed.

In about 34 minutes from now as I write this the clock will strike midnight and the end of Thanksgiving and the beginning of Black Friday. The Biggest and baddest self indulging shopping day of the year. People are already there I am sure. Lined up at the doors ready to get the deal of the century. I am sure many gave up their time to be with their family so they could secure their spot in line to make sure they were one of the first people through the door to snatch up the $199 Computer system, or the Flip Camera for only $99.00 but only for the first 100 people.

No worries about who got what for Christmas and I hope she likes it and man look at what he got…Blah Blah Blah…all the pressures of Christmas and tension around shopping has replaced the real reason for the season–The Birth of Our Savior has been forgetten and removed from much of society. It has been replaced by the insanity of Black Friday and the Now Savage Frenzy of millions of people who are right now lining the parking lots of best buys and many other stores ready to litterally KILL to get into the stores to get one of only 5 laptops at best buy that will be available for only $197.00…People will die again this year as they rage and race and trample anyone in their way.

Scratch That…I just looked up online and here is the deals at best buy on Black Friday Hot off the press.

Best Buy Black Friday deals are available now.  Today, Best Buy allowed Black Friday bargain hunters to purchase special Black Friday doorbuster deals early online.  Tomorrow, stores open at 5:00 am and locations are going to hand out tickets to those waiting to enter the Best Buy location starting around 3:00 am, at their discretion.  Then, shoppers have free reign on the Best Buy Black Friday deals.

What are the best Best Buy Black Friday deals?

$197 HP Laptop

$399.99 Sony Vaio

$999.99 46″ Samsung TV

$34.99 select video games, including Madden games

$299.99 Dynex 32″ TV

$299.99 PS3 120GB Hard Drive

$49.99 Insignia 10 mp Digital camera

All of the doorbusters EXCEPT THE $197 HP LAPTOP are available online right now.  There are limited quantities of the $197 laptop, but each store will have a minimum of 5 laptops.  Only 1 laptop per customer can be purchased.

I am sure people have been at the best buys all day today as we gathered at the table to share a meal, many others were in their sleeping bags and completely missed Thanksgiving so they could get the 46″ Samsung Tv For Only 999…or the HP Laptop for only $197.00

Let’s take a look at a few videos from previous years..

This man could not be saved..

A Riot at A Walmart

YouTube Preview Image

These are just a few of many you will find on youtube.com

People Giving Thanks And Sharing a Meal VS Insane people siting out in the cold for 2 days so they can be first inline for a PSP3?

What is going on here?

The Bible Calls It Covetousness…

Jeremiah 22:17 says… “Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innoncent Blood.

Luke 12:15 says…”And he(Jesus) said to them, Take Heed and beware of Covetousness, for ones life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.

Romans 7:7 Says…”What shall we day then? Is the law sin? Certianally Not! On the Contray, I would not have know sin except through the law, for I would not have known Covetousness unless the law had said, “You Shall Not Covet.”

Ephesians 5:2-3…ANd Walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given himself for us, as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-Smelling Aroma. But fornication and all uncleannes or covetousness, let it not even be named among you.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

The last of the Ten Commandments says…You shall not covet your neighbors house;you shall not covet your neighbors wife, …

So millions and millions are right now flocking to the stores with the faded memory of Thanksgiving quickly seeping out of their minds and it is being replaced by Covetousness.

I won’t be joining them, as a matter of fact my wife wants to seed the money where it is needed…So does my step-mom. They are tired of the Christmas we have created here in America.

The Stark Contrast of the Message Of Christ Vs The Message of Satan…One is Day and light, the other is darkness and evil…

Thanksgiving is beautiful and lovely…Black Friday is Frantic and insane…

Thanksgiving brings people together in blessings and love…Black Friday brings anger, greed, fights and even Death.

Humm..Which one wins?  If you belong to Christ than it is thanksgiving, if you belong to the World, Black Friday wins…
