Looking For Peace? Psalms 4 and Seeking Peace

By sam · Comments (0)
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress: Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

How long, O you sons of men, will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness and seek falsehood?

But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is Godly. The Lord will hear when I call to him

Be angry and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness and put your trust in the Lord.

There are many who say…”Who will show us any good?” Lord, lift us the light of Your countenance upon us.

What Are You Holding On To?

By sam · Comments (0)
Monday, June 1st, 2009

I have taken a little time off from the Word of God and from the computer in general. Sometimes we need to let go of things we are holding to tightly too.

Anything you hold too tightly you will lose.

When thinking about the above statement, it is easy to see that there are times in life that we put things in the way and hold onto security of this world over the security of our God. Most of us are chasing something here on earth and in America most of us are chasing the American dream. Money, a nice house, a nice car and we are holding onto these things sometimes at the point of fear and trembling that we are afraid of or not trusting God in the day to day blessings and moments of life.

Word of God From the Living Bible

May 21st 2009

Romans 2 1-16

Well, You may be saying, what terrible people you have been talking about! But wait a minute! You are just as bad. When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are talking about yourselves, for you do these very same things. And we know that God, in justice, will punish anyone who does such things as these. Do you think that God will judge and condemn others for doing them and overlook you when you do them, too? Don’;t you realize how patient he is being with you? Or don’t you care? Can’t you see that he has been waiting all this time without punishing you, to give you time to turn from your sin? His kindness is meant to lead you to repentance.

But no, you won’t listen; and so you are saving up terrible punishment for yourselves because of your stubbornness in refusing to turn from your sin; for there is going to come a day of wrath when God will be the just Judge of all the world. He will give each one whatever his deeds deserve. He will give eternal life to those who patiently do the will of God, seeking for the unseen glory and honor and eternal life that he offers. But he will terrible punish those who fight against the truth of God and walk in evil ways—God’s anger will be poured out upon them.

There will be sorrow and suffering for Jews and Gentiles alike who keep on sinning, but there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who obey him, whether they are Jews or Gentiles. For God Treats everyone the same.

He will punish sin wherever it is found. He will punish the heathen when they sin, even though they never had God’s written laws, for down in their hearts they know right from wrong. God’s laws are written within them; their own conscience accuses them, or sometimes excuses them. And God will punish the Jews for sinnning because they have his written laws, but don’t obey them. They know what is right but don’t do it. The day will surely come when at God’s command Jesus Christ will Judge the secret life of everyone; their inmost thoughts and motives; this is all part of God’s great plan which I proclaim

Sam’s Response.

We will all stand before, or sit in the Judgement seat before God. First of all, nothing is hidden from God. Wheather you know it or not, he knows how many hairs are on your head. He created you just the way you are. He knows all your comings and goings.

None of us…NONE  are righteous and or worth to stand before God. But are you doing his will or yours? Are you trying to make the changes you need to become pure and holy?

It is a daily response and commitment. Sometimes it is a hourly commitment.

None of us are going to stand before God and think we are going to tell him a thing or 2. For those who do think this, I pray you will repent and come to realize WHO God is. Our lives, the good the bad and the ugly will be laid out before us.

The Good thing is our God is a forgiving and loving God. If our hearts are right, I really don’t see the point of re-hashing on Judgement day those things that we have repented from and turned away from. Our God is a God of Love and fairness.

It is a choice each day to walk in the light or in the darkness…to include or exclude God…to pray or not to pray…to give or not to give…

God gave us the free will to choose…

You can choose when you wake up to praise God or curse God…To Love God and Love others or to look out for number #1.

I know I am far from perfect, and I know that it is so much easier to just allow the world to consume me and take me away from God.

But that is NOT the posture of my heart.

I love God and want to do his will.

Why Won’t You Let Jesus In?

1 Thessalonians 4:1-12

Let me add this my dear brothers: you already know how to please God in your daily living, for you know the commands we gave you from the Lord Jesus himself. Now we beg you–yes we demand of you in the name of the Lord Jesus–that you live more and more closely to that ideal. For God wants you to be holy and pure, and to keep clear of all sexual sin so that each of you will marry in holiness and honor–not in lustful passion as the heathen do, in their ignorance of God and his ways.

The Thiefs Purpose is to Steal, Kill and Destroy…Is this who you want to hang with?

By sam · Comments (0)
Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Welcome to the word of god online for May 16th 2009

This reading is from the living bible put out in the 70′s and made world known by Billy Graham

Scripture Verse of the Day is John 10-10

The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give eternal life–abundantly

Scripture reading of the day is Romans 8:1-17

So there is now no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus. For the power of the life giving Spirit–and the power is mine through Christ Jesus–has freed me from the vicious circle of sin and death. We aren’t saved from sin’s grasp by knowing the commandments of God, because we dan;t and don;t keep them, but God put into effect a different plan to save us. He sent his own Son in a human body like ours–excpet that ours are sinful–and destroyed sin;s control over us by giving himself as  a sacrifice for our sins. So now we can obey God’s laws if we are led by the Holy Spirit and no longer obey the old evil nature within us.

Those who let themselves be controlled by their lower natures live only to please themselves, but those who follow after the Holy Spirit find themselves doing those things that please God. Following after the Holy spirit leads to life and peace, but following after the old nature leads to death because the old sinful nature within us is against God. It never did obey God;s laws and it never will. That;s why those who are still under the control of their old sinful selves, bent on following their own evil desires can never please God.

But you are not like that. You are controlled by your new nature if you have the Spirit of God living in your. (and remember that if anyone doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ living in him, he is not a Christian at all. Yet, even though Christ lives within you , your body will die because of sin; but your spirit will live, for Christ has pardoned it.

And if the Spirit of God, who raised up Jesus from the dead, lives in you, he will make your dying bodies live again after you die, by means of this same Holy Spirit living within you.

So, dear brothers, you have no obligations whatever to your old sinful nature to do what it begs you to do. For if you keep ion following it you are lost and will perish, but if through the power of the Holy Spirit you crush it and its evil deeds you shall live. For all who are led by the Sopirit of God are sons of God.

And so we we should not be like cringing, fearful slaves, but we should behave like God’s very own children, adopted into the bosom of his family, and calling to him, “Father, Father,” For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our own hearts, and tells us that we really are his choldren. and since we are his children, we will share his treasures–for all God gives to his Son Jesus is now ours too. But if we are to share in his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later.

Sam’s Response.

I have been talking about this choice you need to make. It is a big choice. It is a choice of life or death. It is NOT TO be taken lightly.

The Thief has come to steal, kill and destroy…YOU.

If you get on his team you are doomed eternally.

Sounds like to me a very easy choice to make…but is it?

We are constantly being drawn away from God as we engage in this world…

But it is a choice to listen to the world or listen to the truth…

It is a coice to walk in sin or to walk in the spirit.

When you walk in the Spirit, the spirit is constantly working on your behalf, but you must engage in the spirit to overcome the world.

Sounds easy…and it can be if you are willing to pick up your cross daily and be willing to suffer as did Christ.

Scripture verse of the day acts 5: 17 — 18

The high priest and his relatives and friends among the Sadducees reacted with violent jealousy and arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail

Scripture reading of the day acts five: 12 — 42

As soon as Anaïsis heard these words, he fell to the floor, dead. Everyone was terrified, and the younger men covered him with a sheet and took him out and buried him.

About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what happened. Peter asked her, “did you people sell your land for such and such a price?”

“Yes,” she replied, “we did.”

And Peter said, “how could you and your husband even think of doing a thing like this — conspiring together to test spirit of God’s ability to know what is going on? Just outside that door are the young men who bury your husband, and they will carry you out too.

Instantly she fell to the floor, get, and the young man came in and, seeing that she was dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. Tara Grant the entire church and all others who heard what had happened.

Meanwhile, the apostles were meeting regularly at the Temple in the area known as Solomons Hall, and they did many remarkable miracles among the people. The other believers didn’t dare join them, though, but all had the highest regard for them. And more and more believers were added to the Lord, crowds both of men and women. Six people were brought out into the streets on bed on mats  so that at least Peter’s shadow would fall across some of them as he went by. And crowds came in from the Jerusalem suburbs, bringing their sick folk  and those possessed by demons; and every one of them was healed.

The high priest and his relatives and friends among the Sadducee’s  reacted with violent jealousy and arrested the apostles, and put them in the public jail.

But an angel of the lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail and brought them out. Then he told them, “go over to the Temple and preach about this life!”

They arrived at the Temple about daybreak, and immediately began preaching. Later that morning the high priest and his retinue you arrived at the Temple, and, convening the Jewish Council and the entire Senate, they set for the apostles to be brought for trial. But when the police arrived at the jail, the man weren’t there!”

When the police Captain and the chief priests heard this, they were frantic, wondering what would happen next and where all this wouldn’t end. Then someone arrived with the news that the man they had jail were out in the Temple preaching to the people.

The police Captain went with his officers and arrested them (without violence, for they were afraid that people would kill them if they use force on the disciples) and brought them in before the council.

“Didn’t we tell you never again to preach about this Jesus?” The high Priest demanded. “And instead you have filled all of Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring the blame for this man’s death on us!”

But Peter and the apostles replied, “we must obey God rather than men. The God of our ancestors brought Jesus back to life again after you had killed him by hanging him on the cross. Then, with mighty power, God exalted him to be a prince and Savior, so that the people of Israel would have an opportunity for repentance, and for their sins to be forgiven. And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to all who obey him.”

At best, the council was furious, and decided to kill them. But one of their members, a Pharisee named,Gamaliel (an ex for our religious law and very popular with the people), stood up and requested that the apostles be sent outside the council chambers while he talked.

Then he addressed his colleagues as follows:

“Men of Israel, take care what you are planning to do with these men!

Some time ago there was that fellow Theudas, who pretended to be someone great. About 400 others joined him, but he was killed, and his followers were harmlessly dispersed.

“After him, at the time of the taxation, there was Judas of Galilee. He drew away some people as disciples, but he also died, and his followers scattered.

“And so my advice is, leave these men alone. If what they teach in do is merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is of God, he will not be able to stop them, and you may find yourselves fighting even against God.”

The council accepted his advice, called in the apostles, had been beaten, and then told them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and finally let them go. They left the council chamber rejoicing that God had come of them were the to suffer dishonor for his name. And every day, in the Temple and in the city, they continue to teach and preach that Jesus is the Messiah.

Sam’s response

In the above Scripture we see the apostles once again preaching the  good news to the people of Jerusalem. These amazing men of God went about healing many people. They went about preaching the good news and  carrying the message that Jesus had brought to earth.

We also see in the Scripture above massive persecution coming down upon the apostles. For preaching the good news they were thrown into jail, but, we see a miraculous release of them from jail at the same time. We can surely see God’s hand upon the apostles in their time of great persecution.

These men were about to be killed by the Pharisees, but a wise man stepped up and realize that God’s judgment would come against the Pharisees if they killed these men. So the apostles were released.

So how does this story in the Scripture apply to us today?

Today all over the world there is great persecution against Christians. Here in the U. S. there is also persecution, but nothing like other regions of the world suffer at this time for standing out the name of Jesus. But nonetheless persecution is here and it is growing. Godlessness is growing at a rapid rate all around us.

At the end times approach and the return of Jesus which has been promised to us nears, we know because it has been foretold in the Scriptures that increased persecution is going to come. We cannot look at this as doom and gloom, but is it time to stand. In the book of Ephesians from the living Bible, chapter 6, verse 13 it says “so use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still standing up.

Let’s read that again… so use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be standing up.

This is a promise from God that if we are willing to put on the full armor that God has given us and told us what it is than we can walk forward in the midst of persecution and know that everything is going to be okay.

So when your enemy or persecution comes your way, remember to put on the full armor of God. Remember where we are heading, remember what our future looks like beyond our time here, and rejoice in the persecution as did the apostles when they were beaten and released all under the name of Jesus.
