Earthquakes, Floods and Disasters all over the news

By sam · Comments (0)
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

I was watching the news tonight before bed, and could not help but feel we are moving closer to the end times. Repeatedly over the last month there has been epic disasters that continue to be explained by phrases, “I have need seen _____ like this before. I have lived here all my  life and I have never seen a ________  like this.”

In the Northeast in the month of March we have been hit with massive rainstorms that have been devastating. In North Dakota, there was a MASSIVE flood. Here in the Northeast, including New York, Boston, Maine and especially hard hit Rhode Island, there has been horrific flooding everywhere.

The Lost Children of Haiti–And The Faith of The People of Haiti

The Strength and Faith of The People of Haiti 10 Weeks after the Hurricane

Tonight on 60 Minutes there was an amazing and also disheartening story about the current state of the Haitian people. In the opening images it was just stunning to see that after 10 weeks people are still walking around the streets amongst the rubble. 10 weeks and rubble remains everywhere.

10 weeks later it is all but gone from the news and our minds…it is becoming a distant part of our lives that is only stimulated when we see the state of Haiti put before our eyes.

I am writing this post to raise awareness to all Christians around the world to stay vigilant about praying and also supporting whatever causes that you contribute to for Haiti.

I find it amazing that all the money that was raised, and yet tonight I witness this segment from 60 minutes and the crisis is still huge. Many children are still trapped under the rubble of the 5000 schools…YES 5000 schools that collapsed as Children where attending school.

Many children are now without parents…orphanages are overflowing…

But even worse is the fact the many children will be scooped up and used in the child slavery system that un-benounced to me is actually LEGAL in Haiti.

I hope you watch this entire video and tonight and everynight you pray for the children of Haiti and the fate that they face on a daily basis.

It is really hard to watch this and not be stirred to do more…

I want to do more…

God, provide everyone of us with the heart for the children of Haiti and give us strength to do what we all can collectively to make a difference in this situation.

God please bless my business and show me what you want me to do. Part of me just wants to be super financially successful so I can put all of what my daily life is now and go to Haiti to live permantly to work with the children of Haiti who are suffering, hungry, and tramatized and need love…

Through the entire process of the unfolding of the earthquake in Haiti, one thing has remained constant, and that is the powerful faith of the people. The story above shows a faith that is the faith that Jesus talked about. If your son was missing for 6 weeks, how would you be living day to day? Well, in this story we see a man, a pastor with UNSHAKABLE faith who is taking care of hundreds of children and in the midst of the earthquake his son was missing and ended up being buried in the rubble of one of the 5000 schools that were destroyed in the earthquake.

Listen closely to what he says about this…his response is simply a testament to an unshakable faith.

What is the Benefit of Fearing The Lord?

Fear of the Lord

When most people here the phrase of Fear the Lord, they tend to think of punishment or from a worldly stance they see the phrase “act of God” in their insurance policies and see a God who causes loss of property, or loss of even life. The world tends to look at God or the Act of God as something bad that happens.

It is interesting to note that these acts of God are for one, unstoppable and unavoidable. Our God is sovereign and above anything that we, as man, can not prevent what “God” may unleash here on earth.

But where does that leave us in benefiting from fearing the Lord?

The Dark Side of the Internet And God’s Advice

By sam · Comments (0)
Thursday, March 11th, 2010

The internet for all it wonder and amazement that it has brought us, unfortunately carries a very dark side to it as well. God has very strong language that he displays in the wise words of Solemn through the book of proverbs.

sex sells and steals our hearts and mindsIt doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that sex sells. This is the devils oldest, but yet strongest trick in his book. I believe this is an issue much more for men because of the way we are wired. Not that women do not have issues around this, but it is very much different for men do to our physiological makeup. God made man and woman to complement each other, but made each different. I do think anyone could rightfully argue that point. WE are wired differently for God’s Great purposes.

So this post today is particularly for men

I am comforted by this truth

Word of God From the Living Bible

2 Timothy 8-13

Don’t ever forget the wonderful fact that Jesus Christ was a man born into King David’s family: and that he was God, as shown by the fact that he rose again from the dead. It is because I have preached these great truths that I am in trouble here and have been put in jail like a criminal. But the Word of God is not chained, even though I am. I am more than willing to suffer if that will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God had chosen.

I am comforted by this truth, that when we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven.

And if we think that our present service for him is hard, just remember that some day we are going to sit with him and rule with him. But if we give up when we suffer, and turn against Christ, then he must turn against us. Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are part of himself, and he will always carry out his promises to us.

_____________________________________________________

I can not think of anyone greater in the suffering of living for God than Job. Here is a man that had it all by the world’s standard. The difference was he was a faithful man of God. He did not understand the deal made between Satan and God. He was not part of that conversation. Satan’s fury was released on Job for one reason…To prove to God that anyone can be taken from the hand of God. God proved this differently as Job took his stand for the Word. In the face of losing EVERYTHING…Job’s faith remained.

At a Casting Crowns Concert, the Lead singer Mark Hall, challenged us all to think about how we would respond if everything we have around us was taken..I mean EVERYTHING…and all we were left with is our faith and JESUS. Would that be enough?

This is a very difficult question for those of us who live in all the comforts of America. We have SOOO much that each day we are comforted by. Our homes, our cars, our money, our sports, our entertainment, our families, our food and soooo much more.

people-praising-godI was amazed when watching the unfolding of the great earthquake that took Port Au Prince to the ground and the people were “Left with nothing”…No food, no water, no shelter (the 3 basics that we always seem to have here in the US), that these faithful people paraded around the streets praising and singing to God. This happened within a few days of this tragedy. How could these people be singing and praising God. They had lost their homes, their families and everything that they had, which for most of these people was so far below poverty compared to “poverty” here in the United States.

There is only one Answer…They have something most of us don’t…Comfort by this truth…They belong to the LORD and walk in faith not by sight. All the sights pointed towards devastation, destruction and and end to the impoverished life they were already living.

AMAZING..

Paul comes as a close 2nd in my eyes to Job. In 2nd Timothy in the above scripture we see Paul writing and encouraging Timothy who was a young man that was chasing after the heart of God.

The big difference between those who have given their hearts to Christ and those whom have not is our understanding of where this is all going. As the world spins on, and seemingly darkness increases all around us, we know the message that Christ has brought to us. For “he cannot disown us who are part of himself” and “I am comforted by this truth that when we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven”

This is the comfort we can always rest in that the World cannot. When tragedy and difficulties consume us, we have somewhere to turn to be comforted.
